The Quiet Within

Concentrated practice days for released prisoners

Released prisoners, who participate in the Israel Prison Authority’s rehabilitation program must stay solely at the place of work or home during the probation period (including “curfew”).

The program we offer, of concentrated practice days, will allow them to leave the demanding environment and spend time in an environment that is physically different (nature and outdoor sleeping) as well as mentally different (a break from obligations and pressures). The practice days are intended for prisoners who practice in the meditation groups.

Testimonial of a volunteer who led a retreat:
“It was very interesting, that in the weekly session following the retreat, the guys talked and talked, for over an hour, without stopping and without me saying a word during that entire time. They told each other (including those who did not attend the retreat) about what happened there, how they felt during that time and on the following weekend. One of them said that he slept much better than usual, another said he woke up on Sunday with much more energy, and then they also spoke about their lives after incarceration. They had also shared in previous sessions, but there’s no doubt that something changed following the retreat.”
